A famous prescription medication, Accutane is known for its extreme results for tough and stubborn cases of acne. It is a pill form of vitamin A and it apparently stops oil production to stop acne. It has also been used to treat even more severe cases that fall outside of that of acne vulgaris for example. It has been used in high doses to treat various problems.

The Good

This formula actually works. When acne has responded to nothing else, Accutane is used because it will get to the root cause in many cases, even preventing scars and other problems. It was introduced as a breakthrough in acne fighting technology.

The Bad

It is only used in the worst cases for a reason. Even though it works for most people, it comes with some daunting side effects to say the least. Many are understandably scared to use it, and frankly it can cause long term side effects that never actually go away, even with extended periods of not using it.

The Skinny

Accutane is tightly controlled for a reason. It's not just dry or irritated skin, it's much more serious problems, because your skin and your body need a certain amount of those oils, and Accutane takes it all away. Some have experienced worse breakouts in general terms with Accutane, and all in all it's not worth your efforts.
